A complex with a long history
The La Garganta Rural Tourist Complex is the result of decades of hard work, dedication and respect for the history of El Chorro. The former Santa Mariana flour mill has gradually been transformed into a leading destination for rural tourism in Málaga, combining comfort, nature and active tourism in a stunning setting next to El Caminito del Rey.
The design, developed by the García family themselves, preserves the building’s original architecture and focuses on the reuse of historic materials and recycled elements. These include bricks over 70 years old, beams from the old Málaga railway station, ashlars from El Chorro station, old valves from the El Chorro power station, the winch from the El Chorro carbide factory, and old industrial parts that now form part of the complex’s unique identity.

La Garganta is a family-run business built up generation after generation thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of the García family. Our connection to El Chorro and our deep respect for the local environment have guided the development of the resort since its inception.
More than just a rural guesthouse, we are a team committed to offering warm, genuine and personalised service. For us, an outstanding experience stems from this combination.
